Upper River Campground North Fort Myers Florida -
Well this was not our first choice nor second choice for a campground in this area. After
arriving we first went to was Sand Carlos RV Park and Islands in Fort Myers. But with our
5th wheeler and 2500 extended cab with a 8 ft. box we were not able to get into the first
site (well we might of if we had put the truck in the canal) the second site was better
but seasonal had left their boat trailers to close to the road to swing in. After we got
our money back we went to our second choice Pine Island KOA. This was a 30 mile trek out
to Pine Island and the campground from Highway 78. When got out there we found out that it
was closed for the summer and would open in October. Well this was not mentioned in the
KOA book so back we went to the main land to our 3rd choice Upper River Campgrounds. This
is a nice park but it was definitely off season for them. The office was only open a few
hours a day and there was not much activity going on in the park. The sites were
dirt/grass but were level. The pool was nice but not being used very much as we only saw
two people in the two days we were there at the pool. Both of them were just sitting on
the side with their feet in the water. There was an occasional traveler there but most of
the park was empty except for a few (very few) who lived there year round. If you are
going to be in the area and looking for a nice campgrounds we would recommend this one
especially in the summer during the off season.
